We want to thank all our attendees for joining us to celebrate Roncalli Catholic’s 3rd annual Grandparent’s Day. The morning included a breakfast, student speakers Emily Mordeson and Abbey Schwarz delivered words of appreciation for their grandparents, along with a blessings with Deacon Rick, a photo opportunity and student-led school tours.
This tradition embodies the wisdom component of Roncalli Catholic’s mission, as grandparents and grand-friends pass down their knowledge and life experience to guide our students during their years at Roncalli Catholic.
Wisdom is a crucial value we strive to instill in our students. And we are not alone in these efforts. There are no greater stewards of wisdom than grandparents. They inspire wisdom through the example they set, the treasured stories they share, and the support and guidance they provide in times of challenge and celebration. Grandparent’s Day is an opportunity for our students to thank their grandparents and grand – friends for the significant role they’ve played in their lives, particularly during their time here at Roncalli Catholic. High school is a time in a young person’s life when wisdom is needed the most. We thank our families for instilling wisdom that encourages our students to make good decisions, work hard, and be men and women in service to others.
Deacon Rick blessed the students and their grandparents and grand-friends with a blessing we want to share with you and your families:
Lord God almighty, bless our grandparents with long life, happiness, and health. May they remain constant in your love and be living signs of your presence to their children and grandchildren.
Lord God, your Spirit of wisdom fills the earth and teaches us your ways. Look upon these students our children. Let them enjoy their learning and take delight in new discoveries. Help them to persevere in their studies and give them the desire to learn all things well. Grant that they may follow Jesus Christ, the way, the truth, and the life, for ever and ever.
Finally, the attendees had the opportunity to tour Roncalli Catholic with their grandchild. While the Student Ambassadors shared about our Gustafson Center, S.T.E.A.M. Lab and other facilities. Grandparents were encouraged to ask their grandchild how they have gained wisdom through their classes, teachers, and life lessons they’ve experienced at RCHS.
