What was your experience at Roncalli Catholic like?

I was a freshman at Archbishop Rummel before the switch was made to the co-ed Roncalli Catholic High School during my sophomore year. What a change! And by that, I mean for the better. I had a great four years making friends for life and preparing myself for the future.

What was life like after your time at Roncalli Catholic?

I served as a police officer for the Omaha Police Department for 26 years. After retirement, I entered the non-profit world as the Vice President of Field Operations for the Nebraska Humane Society. Following a 15-year stint with NHS, I left in 2019 after being appointed by Gov. Pete Ricketts to the Nebraska Parole Board.

I’m also a best-selling author. My two books, Busting Bad Guys and More Busting Bad Guys, are Amazon Best Sellers and award-winning books. My website is www.bustingbadguys.com.

How have you stayed connected to the Roncalli Catholic community?

I have mainly stayed connected to the Roncalli Catholic community by attending reunions, open houses and through financial contributions.

What are some values and lessons you have carried with you from your time at Roncalli Catholic?

The concepts of being kind to others and helping those in need were instilled in me by the Christian Brothers I met. These are my guiding principles.

If you were speaking to a student or recent graduate, how would you recommend staying connected to the Roncalli Catholic community?

Never forget the values taught during your four years at Roncalli Catholic. Life will present many successes and failures, as well as happiness and heartache. Lean on your faith to help you. Roncalli Catholic will prepare you!

And support your alma mater by attending events and helping financially if possible.

Do you know a Roncalli Catholic graduate that should be featured in a future Alumni Spotlight?

We are always looking to showcase the success of our Roncalli Catholic alumni. If you have a story idea, please reach out to Communications Coordinator Noah Johnson at njohnson@roncallicatholic.org. Their story may be featured in a future newsletter!
